Parmenter, Ian

A former journalist and TV producer/director, Ian Parmenter was the presenter of ABCTV’s Consuming Passions, which screened in Australia and 15 other countries for 12 years.

He has numerous recipe collections to his credit and a book of memoirs, Sheer Bottled Bliss, which in 2006 won a major award for literary excellence in a food-related book.

In 1995 and 1996, he won two major international prizes for the show at the Festivale Tele-Gourmande in France.

Ian was a founder member of the Margaret River Food Group, which established the first farmers’ market in Western Australia’s southwest.

Ian is a passionate believer in putting kitchen gardens into Australia’s primary schools and is Western Australia Ambassador of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation.

He is Festival Director of Tasting Australia, Chair of Le Cordon Bleu World Food Media Awards, and a regular contributor to magazines and radio.

He spends his spare time playing blues harmonica, guitar and piano.

Born and raised in France, Laurent has worked in several highly respected restaurants in Paris including Le Bernardin Restaurant and Le Notre Restaurant.

His expertise and wealth of knowledge stems from more than 29 years’ industry experience.

Laurent's entry into hotels began with the Hyatt family in the year 2000 when he worked as Chef de Cuisine in Trilogy's Restaurant at Park Hyatt Melbourne. He then returned to his homeland to take up the position of Executive Chef with Hyatt Regency Paris Charles de Gaulle, France.

In October 2005, Laurent moved to Adelaide and commenced as Executive Chef with Hyatt Regency Adelaide and remains in the same position with the recent re-brand to InterContinental Adelaide.
