KRIS LLOYD 

Kris Lloyd is manager and Head Cheesemaker of Woodside Cheese Wrights, a specialist maker of goat and cow cheeses producing and distributing around 50 tonne of fresh, white mould and matured cheeses throughout Australia.

Woodside Cheese Wrights is owned by the Lloyd family and was established in 1994.  Kris is the Head Cheesemaker supported by a passionate team making cheeses to traditional methods which result in plenty of flavour and individual character.  Kris has also pioneered a range of seasonal cheeses, with innovative packaging and presentation, to take advantage of seasonal variations in milk supply.  The flavour and texture of our cheeses vary throughout the year as seasonal influences affect the raw milk.

Woodside prefers to use the batch pasteurisation process which is gentle to the milk structure and allows us to retain the individual character of the milk selected for each cheese.  Most cheeses are herd specific, again giving us excellent control over cheese quality.  Milk quality is paramount for cheese quality. 

Self-taught cheesemaker, Kris constantly challenges the flavour and quality of the Woodside Cheeses and looks forward to introducing a diverse range of seasonal products.  In 2002 Kris established the South Australian Specialist Cheese Association "Cheese SA" to promote specialty cheese and introduce industry driven education and training programs in South Australia.  Kris is currently the Chair of the association.

Woodside Cheese Wrights has won numerous cheese awards throughout Australia, including the Grand Dairy Award, and has won the Premiers Food Award in 2003 2004 and 2006.

Kris travels widely throughout the world to help benchmark her products, to learn new techniques and gather product ideas.
